Acrylic paint, spray paint and oil paint on panel, 2017, 28"w x 30"h
I wanted to show an instance of human beauty that is brought on by a simple look or glance. My use of textured metallic backgrounds refers back to ancient uses of metal to present idealized human forms, resulting in a display of uncommon subject matter in a way that puts them on the same pedestal. The reflective quality plays on the idea of an environment affecting us and its ultimate ability to change how we are perceived. Finally, the use of fully rendered and abstracted elements for the figure plays with the idea of not being fully represented; we choose what we show.
