Graphite on Dura-Lar, 2016, 25"w x 19"h
My work recognizes groups and individuals forgotten by history. As such, it explores what is revealed and what is concealed, the ephemeral and the impacts of absence and intimacy. The Hilltop is composed of layers of translucent sheets, each filled with drawn line work. Here, the pencil moves cyclically and incessantly forward, like time, yet repeatedly looks back on itself. Porous texture is created and erased, recalling the absence and presence of memory, where some details are prominent and crisp, and others become vague, obscured or lost.
