The work presented here is part of a continuing series entitled No Edge No Center. The title refers to the “edge-center” problem as studied by cosmologists, as well as to Edgar Allen Poe’s unlikely contribution to the then unanswered questions of Olber’s paradox in his prose poem “Eureka.” Poe’s writings (as well as those of his follower H.P. Lovecraft) are often abstract meditations on the above-mentioned “immense spiritual dread of space,” though usually underpinned by a detective’s mathematical use of logic.
