Salvaged wood, copper wire, metal springs, 2018, 9"w x 15"h x 9"d (each)
A pack rat by nature, I salvage found objects to create art installations expressing sustainable themes. My artwork evokes natural cycles such as growth and decay as well as industrial cycles such as obsolescence and reuse. My art practice explores the nature of “trash” and challenges our notions of “upcycling” into art. This “trash to treasure” approach often plunges me into the recycling bin, while examining deeper narratives revealed in our throwaway culture. By interrogating ideas of collection, site and the history of materials, I question the evolution of our consumer society.
